About us – History and development of the Hotel Arosa in Düsseldorf
What was once a minor matter is now the heart of our mission
Hotel Arosa was originally known for its legendary bar in the basement. At that time, the hotel, which was built in 1971, still felt like a mere secondary matter. People were still partying here into the early hours of the morning even when everyone else had already closed. Even today, we (and our guests) hear exciting stories from this unforgettable time that shaped Arosa and its diversity.
The Arosa, which today is considered colorful and individual, was anything but back then: The rooms were rustic and colorless. It wasn’t until the Sonnenschein family took over in the early 90s that a fresh breeze suddenly blew through the building. The 60s clinker brick building, from the outside as plain and gray as a cocoon, gradually became a colorful butterfly that unfolded through each room with different themes.

The Hotel Arosa today
The idea behind Hotel Arosa is to show that diversity is part of life. That is why every single one of our rooms is individually designed and furnished according to individual themes. Thus, over the years, different themed rooms have developed, which give the guest the feeling of constant variety. Thus, even the second or third visit becomes a perpetual, new experience.
What always remains the same: our hospitality. You can rely on it.
The years 2020 to 2022 have also left their mark on Hotel Arosa. But thanks to our strong team, we have managed to continue to exist. This could only work because our entire team swore allegiance to us during these challenging times. Something that cannot be taken for granted and speaks for the family soul of our hotel.
Learning from each other, being there for each other. Not only for us, but above all for our guests. According to the motto: We are all different, we are all the same.
This is the Hotel Arosa.
